For this renovation we had the chance to "throw a grenade" and start from zero. This almost 100 year old house had a layout that didn't really work with the modern needs of a family, and the quality of the original finishes didn't really encourage a restoration, so the decision was made to the demolish all interior structures and only keep the existing facade. The existing basement was expanded using the underpinning method, and new windows were brought in to add more light and brightness. For the style, the client wanted a decidedly modern style, but maintaining a sense of elegance and timelessness. A neutral finish palette would ensure versatility when it would come down to decorating.
